Kogi Assembly House Committee On Physical Planning, Urban and Rural Energy Development charge’s agencies under it’s purview to be alive to their responsibilities

Chairman Kogi state House Standing Committee on Physical Planning, Urban and Rural Energy Development, Obaro Emmanuel, says there is need for government agencies to think outside the box to achieve their core mandate.

The Lawmaker stated this when the Kogi State Town Planning and Urban Development Board appeared before his committee to defend it’s twenty twenty budget estimate at the assembly complex in Lokoja.

Obaro stressed that the board poor performance in the twenty twenty three budget was unacceptable, hence the need for it to think outside the box to ensure that next year’s performance exceeded the expectation of the people.

He said that town planning and Urban development was key to the beautification of Kogi state and admonished the board to be up and doing to make it more attractive and responsive to meeting the yarning’s of the citizens.

The chairman of the committee promised to look into the challenges of the board with a view to addressing them.

Earlier, the General Manager of the board, Town Planner Kadiri Ismaila said the board was inundated with several challenges which had hindered its optimum performance.

He said although the board had continued to enforce and control the citing of physical structures thereby reducing illegal structures in the state as well as implementing the national building code to eliminate building collapse.

He maintained that the board going forward would ensure it adopts the strategies suggested by the committee to ensure it achieved it’s core mandate.
