A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Ogwu James Onoja, has challenged Nigerian students to always strive to be at the top of their academics and in life generally to enable them contribute to the general development of the country..
According to Onoja nothing would be difficult to achieve for a determined individual with a dream and hard work to be the best.
He gave the charge while reacting to the pronouncement of his daughter, Omonu Umolaojo Onoja as the best graduating medical student of the Bingham University, Nasarawa State.
Omonu came top in seven courses to emerge as both best female and best overall graduating student from the Department of Medicine and Surgery.
An elated and proud father, while commending the daughter for the feat enjoined parents to give priority and seriousness to the education of their children and support them in every best way possible, adding that education is the key and center of development and progress.
The senior lawyer in addition charged government at all levels and critical stakeholders to invest in education stressing that no amount is too much to establish and sustain quality education in the country.
Omonu, born on March 13, 2000, won awards in the following categories:
Best graduating medical student in Anatomy.
Best graduating medical student in physiology.
Best graduating medical student in Biochemistry.
Best graduating medical student in paediatrics.
Best graduating medical student in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Best Graduating medical student in Surgery
Best graduating female medical student.
Overalll best graduating medical student.
Besides her medical career, Umonu who is a talented artist and painter with many of her works adorning her father’s chambers already has many clients in her kitty.
In addition, she is a Sunday school teacher at the children church and a member of the Children’s Department at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Region 47 Gwarimpa, Abuja.
The senior lawyer recalled that Omonu and her elder sister Edebo also born on March 13 were kid singers with the stage name SHARONROSE SINGERS. Their ALBUM titled African child was released in 2005.
While Edebo plays the saxophone, Dr Umola plays the keyboard. Their Igala song “Obobo Alubasa” (onion soup) is said to be a hit in Nigeria.
Congratulating the young doctor, a family friend, Pastor Abel Uloko had said “Umola deserves more applause than we can give now.
“In this day and age where children go to the University and redefine the rules of engagement, trashing cherished values handed to them by parents; getting distracted and choosing a life of waywardness and immorality, thus derailing the train of academic excellence, Umola distinguished herself through hard work, commitment, consistency, discipline with thorough rigorous work ethic and today she’s a true hero.
“Again Chief, do you think you’ll be paying school fees bills for other people’s children in Kogi and in the orphanages and all your other humanitarian endeavors and God will abandon your children? No way! God is not unjust! Umola’s result today is a harvest of your labour of love over God’s people!
