Kogi Assembly Members attend Seminar on Security

Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. (Prince) M.O Kolawole led other members of the 7th assembly to attend a 4 day seminar on Security Consciousness Training organized by the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja with the theme: Efficient Legislature, A panacea for State Security Management and Good Governance.

Declaring the seminar open, the Commandant of the Institute, Mr Ayodele Adeleke commended the Kogi State Government and State House of Assembly for keying into the program of the institute to equip members of the Assembly with adequate knowledge of security issues with reference to intelligence gathering which will position them to formulate laws that will assist in tackling the security situation in the state.

He said the program is timely considering the security challenges in the state and the country at large, noting that the Institute is established to provide platforms to train and retrain personnel and others in leadership positions especially those in the Legislative Arm that have the constitutional responsibility of making laws to promote good governance.

He urged the participants to use the opportunity to acquire relevant skills in security that will assist them in discharging their constitutional duties.

In his remarks, Rt Hon Kolawole thanked the leadership of the Department of State Services for the opportunity given to the Assembly Members to attend the Seminar, stressing that the program will go a long way to broaden the knowledge of the members.

He also eulogized the State Director of the Service in Kogi State Mr Tosin Ajayi who facilitated the program for the overall benefit of the State, noting that the legislative Arm under his watch will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders for efficient and effective legislation
