Kogi: Medical and Health workers union chairman charges newly appointed DLG’s, Treasurers, on effective service delivery at Local Government level
Newly appointed and reappointed Directors of Local Government, DLG’s and Treasurers in Kogi State, have been advised to see their appointment as a call for greater works to humanity, and most especially to the entire workers of the local government council.
The Kogi state chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Amari Gabriel gave the admonition in a statement he personally signed on Friday.
Comrade Amari who described local government system as the engine room of any government noted that, the new appointees should be ready to face the task ahead and ensure that, they leave up to the expectations of local government workers in Kogi State.
He eulogized the charismatic leadership of the Local Government Service Commission, adding that, the recommendation for the appointment of the new DLG’s and Treasurers which was approved by governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello was done based on merit.
While thanking the executive governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his exemplary role in transforming the local government system in the nation’s history, Comrade Amari charged the appointed DLG’s and treasurers not to relents in improving the welfares of the grassroot workers across in the state.
He said the appointment of the new DLG’s and Treasurers will serve as a morale booster for efficient and effective service delivery in the local government system.
On the current corona virus pandemic that is currently ravaging the world, Comrade Amari urged the new appointees to provide basic protective garget such as hand gloves, face masks, hand sanitizers, disinfectants, and other consumables for all health workers at the local government level, adding that, they have been putting their lives on the line in a bid to safe the people of kogi state.
He however appealed to the Local Government Service Commission to restore the position of Director of Personnel Management, DPM, stressing that, the importance of this offices cannot be over emphasized, as the running’s of the day to day core administration in the local government system may be defeated if they are not restored.
The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria chairman also used the medium to admonish workers at the local government level to give their maximum support to the newly appointed DLG’s and treasurers, expressing optimism that, they won’t disappoint the people they are representing at the grassroot level.
Comrade Amari however promised to always priotize the welfare of local government health workers in kogi state.
