His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello (CON) unveils the year 2024 Appropriation Bill which was captioned “Busget of consolidation and continuity for inclusive growth” to the legislative arms of the State to the tune of N258, 278, 501, 330BN.
According to the Governor, the proposed budget is 30.71% higher than that of 2023 which is a total sum of N60.6bn and it is divided into recurrent expenditure (56.43%) and capital expenditure (43.57%) respectively.
The breakdown of the budget is said to capture amongst other things infrastructural and sustainability development, security, agriculture, heathcare, innovation, improved model for revenue generation, youth empowerment etc which are the bane of New Direction blue print and that is why it was said to be “Budget of consolidation and continuity for inclusive growth”.
While further appreciating the 8th Assembly for a good working environment between the Executive and Legislature, the Governor appealed for accelerated passage of the Bill.
The speaker of the House, Rt. Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf while lending his voice to the business of the day expressed gratitude to His Excellency on behalf of the members and opined that the State Government would need to employ more variables means for revenue generation in order to sustain the proposed budget expressly.
However, the budget was committed to the Chairman Budget and Appropriation, Honoursble Sam Olawumi Jacob (CNA, ACTI.) for professional review, budget defence and ratification for onward approval.
