LEGISLATIVE IMPACT OF HON.(PRINCE) COLLINS MUSA OF OMALA CONSTITUENCY

INTRODUCTION
As the member representing Omala Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince (Hon.) Collins Musa clocks one year in office , his media aide, Samuel Achegbulu examines the impact of the lawmaker within the period under review.
In the contemporary Nigerian society, the question of whether leaders are made or born still remains a matter of discourse since both arguments have their supportive ingredients.
Considering the peculiarities of the Nigerian environment therefore, it may be difficult to say exactly which should actually stand , but experience clearly indicates that leaders are born.
In the same vein , leaders in the country emerge for specific assignments , all with the aim and objectives of strengthening democratic principles as well as advance the course of nationhood.
For this reason therefore , the legislative arm of government has remained a major pillar upon which the growth of Nigerian democracy depends upon , especially as the three arms of government exist for the purpose of checks and balances.
In the quest to ensure the growth and development of Omala state constituency, a Prince of repute , Honourable Collins Musa was elected last year by the good people of the area as member of the seventh Kogi State House of Assembly.
Upon assumption therefore, the lawmaker saw the dire need to critically assess the development needs of his people towards providing solution through result oriented approaches.
To this end , Prince Collins Musa considered the establishment of a constituency office as very paramount if he must operate as open door leadership by getting in regular touch with the constituents.
Thus, the constituency office at Abejukolo , headquarters of Omala Local Government has so far remained the contact point thereby making himself accessible to the electorate.
The lawmaker also galvanized ideas towards providing reasonable solutions to the basic socio economic challenges confronting the people , both in education, health , security , empowerment, sports and entertainment and indeed the general welfare of the people.
For the records , Prince Collins Musa also considered as crucial, the need for youths to be gainfully employed and be self dependent, hence he hurriedly empowered professional artisans such as mechanics, carpenters and electricians with working tools.
Equally , since education has been globally acknowledged to be the hall mark of development, the legislator deemed it expedient to pay school fees of indegent students in tertiary institutions, provision of financial assistance as well as food donation to the respective groups
In the area of health, Prince Collins never disputed the fact that health is wealth as he graciously repaired Ambulance for Abejukolo General Hospital , rehabilitated the borehole, cleared the environment and paid some hospital bills to alleviate the sufferings of the down trodden.
The security of Omala people equally received the attention of the lawmaker following the provision of support funds to the Police in the area to facilitate rapid response, prompt intervention in crises management and provision of furniture for the Police Division at Abejukolo.
To Honourable (Prince ) Collins , sports should be seen as a major activity of youths considering its multi dimensional benefits , hence the introduction and sponsorship of Onu Ife Champions league which is on going with additional support to entertainment industry via assistance to the maiden edition of Miss Ife beauty pageantry and indigenous musicians.
For those living with disabilities, the lawmaker made handsome donation of motorcycles to some members of the group while he also donated food items and cash as palliatives to cushion the effect of Covid 19 which has posed a global health challenge.
Electricity which is an indices in the socio economic lives of the people is equally receiving attention as efforts are on to restore power to Omala Local Government Area , with similar efforts to repair and provide transformers, rehabilitate schools damaged by rainstorm and attract attention to erosion sites.
With particular reference to legislating, Prince Collins Musa had presented motion , calling for the formation of a Naval base and Marine Police post at Bagana and co sponsored a bill for the upgrading of College of Education Ankpa to a degree awarding institution among other quality contributions on the floor of the House.
Since time may not permit ,to go on and on , it is expedient to say at this juncture that that the legislative impact of the lawmaker calls for commendation, especially giving his commitment to duty, accessibility, and purpose driven approach to issues.
Which is why the electorate at different fora , urged him to make a positive difference in the political leadership of the area by being responsive, articulate and result oriented to justify the mandate given him.
Happily, Honourable(Prince) Collins , going by the record already set in the past one year , has not disappointed the electorate and this why it is advisable that his vision should not be allowed to die , rather , he should strife to write his name in gold.
Although the present economic crunch may make it pretty difficult to meet the yearning and aspirations of the people , he should bridge the communication gap with the constituents in a bid to keep them abreast with the realities of the moment thereby vindicating himself.
Obviously, the exemplary performance of the member representing Omala has endeared him to the people , including groups or associations- This accounts for the various honours and awards bestowed on him , meaning to whom much is given , much is expected in return.
By keeping the flag flying , the legacies will continue to stand the test of time .
While constructive criticisms should be embraced, the lawmaker should however not be deterred or disturbed by the actions of those who may constitute themselves enemies of progress , but remain focused and achieve his dreams for the people.
On the part of the people too, the need for sustained synergy and cooperation with Prince Collins Musa cannot be overemphasized and this is why everything possible should be done to advance the growth and development of Omala state constituency.
By doing so , everyone will be proud to have gotten a worthy ambassador of Omala kingdom.
