NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS (NSE) COMMENDS AG. RECTOR’S TRANSPARENCY AND DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS
The Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engineer Mohammed Sagir has commended the transparency and development initiatives of the Acting Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Salisu O.Usman.
The Chairman who made the commendation when he led some members of his executive on a visit to the institution on Thursday 2nd July, 2020, said the Society and the immediate community of the institution are pleased with the efforts put in so far by the current Management.
He stressed that the involvement of the Society and other notable bodies in the pre qualifications and Financial Bid Opening for the TETFUND projects at the instance of the Acting Rector was a clear evidence of his transparency.
The Acting Rector’s development spirit, he stressed, is reflected in the multiple projects he has embarked on within a short period in office.
Engineer Sagir, who was accompanied by Engineer Adanu Emmanuel (Vice Chairman), Engineer Ochune D. Dasuma (General Secretary), Engineer Felix Ajayi (Financial Secretary), Engineer Friday Ekele Idachaba (PRO), said the Society, in line with its tradition, had come to seek collaboration with the Institution so that their members from different fields of expertise and experience could add to the success story of the Institution.
The Acting Rector in his response appreciated them for the visit and for believing in the leadership of the Polytechnic.
He also appreciated them for taking part in the Pre-qualification and the financial bid opening, stressing that he made the exercise transparent and all inclusive because he had nothing to hide.
He welcomed collaboration with the Society and stressed that if such was in place in the past, they would have served as watchdogs over the contractors and the issue of abandoned TETFUND projects would not have arisen.
He therefore, called for continuous synergy between both parties, especially now that the first tranche of payment for the new seven TETFUND projects have been released to the Polytechnic, and with the work to commence immediately.
He requested regular monitoring of the projects and the contractors with the view that jobs are done to specifications.
The Principal Officers in separate responses appreciated the NSE and sought their cooperation and beautiful moment of partnership with the institution.
