Some stakeholders from okunland have lauded Governor Yahaya Bello for the establishment of Kogi state university, kabba in Kabba-Bunu local government Area of the state.
They made the expression at the public hearing organiised by the Kogi state House of Assembly, Adhoc Committee on Education, Security and Honours for the establishment of the university at the speakers lodge Lokoja.
The Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Oladele Owoniyi said the setting up of the university in okunland would address the lobsidedness in the area of citing of projects in the state which Kogi west had suffered in the past.
He said kabba as the location of the university had all the facilities needed for the citing of the university.
President General Okun Descendants Union, Emmanuel Ade-Ajibero said the establishment of the university in okunland would bring alot of benefits to the area and the state in general.
He said aside increasing the number of Okun students that would go to School, it would create job opportunities as well as increasing the socio- economic development of the area.
Kogi state commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones, said this will be the second university that Governor Yahaya Bello would be setting up as the government takes education as a priority.
The establishment of the university in okunland would open up hiding educational potentials in the area.
The Provost College of Education Technical, kabba, Mrs Victoria Jagboro the citing of the university was a welcome development as it was long overdue.
The chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Anthony Ujah called on all the stakeholders to join hand with the government to ensure the immediate take off of the University
