Senate Committee on ICT seeks speedy improvement in digital sector
The chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime, Senator Yakubu Oseni has advocated speedy improvement in Nigeria digital sector for sustainable economic development.
Senator Oseni who represents Kogi Central in the Red Chamber made the call recently in Abuja in separate remarks during oversight visits to the offices of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC).
The lawmaker who opined that advancement in ICT is pivotal to economic transformation noted that almost all aspects of human endeavour is currently driven by digital devices.
“Whether it is security and intelligence, education, banking, power generation and other sectors, ICT has become the key infrastructure. Digital technology also promises to make the world a much safer place,” he noted.
He however decried the unwholesome activities of fraudsters who are making concerted efforts to dampen the gains of the advancement in digital technology by exposing people to cyber threats of various magnitude.
Senator Oseni and his team were received by the Director-General of NIMC, Mallam Aziz Abubakar and Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi respectively.
They pledged to attend to all matters of concern raised by the Senate Committee and solicited for cordial working relationship with the Senate for improved digital facilities in their respective offices.
