In a renewed effort to tackle ecological challenges in Nasarawa state the Federal Government has taken its soil erosion intervention to two communities in the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari made this known during the inauguration and handing over of erosion and road enhacement works on Gora – Roguwa road in Karu Local Government Area.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the minister for state, Science and Technology, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi noted that the Gora – Roguwa erosion and road enhancement was one of the eleven ecological intervention projects approved and awarded by the Federal Executive Council in twenty eighteen with completion timeline of thirty four weeks.
President Buhari said that an additional sum of one hundred million Naira has been approved for the extension of erosion and road enhancement works from Roguwa to Saka community, saying that approval has also been given for Nasarawa Eggon soil erosion intervention worth over eight hundred million Naira.
He commended efforts of the state government, the contractor and the consultant as well as Gora and Roguwa communities for creating a peaceful atmosphere that ensured the completion of the erosion and road enhancement projects.
Appreciating the federal government for initiating the project on the request of the Nasarawa state government, Governor Abdullahi Sule represented by the state deputy governor Emmanuel Akabe, pledged commitment to keying into president Buhari’s initiative of providing democratic dividends to citizens of the State.
The governor however made a case for more interventions by the Ecological Fund Office in erosion prone areas across the state begging for attention.
