THE UNIQUE RECOGNITIONS OF WORTHY KOGI INDIGENES; MORE CONSIDERATION FOR OGORI MAGONGO

A LETTER OF APPEAL TO HIS EXCELLENCY, ALHAJI YAHAYA ADOZA BELLO, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE

At a very decisive and momentous point in our nation’s history and our dear Kogi state, we find it timely and expedient to convey to you, our appeal in the recent issues of nomination of some deserving indigenes of Kogi state for an award of recognition of their contributions to the development of the state.

Kogi state is one of the strategic and very important state in Nigeria on account of her human and material endowment. Since the creation of the state, some decades age, each successive leadership in the state has continue to work to add values to the development of the state. The result is a state that has continue to grow in leaps and bounds.

While the state continues to grow and develop, there are certain respected Nigerian, who contributed and continue to contribute to develop the state, the recognition of such people continues to serve as a source of motivation to as many young Nigerians within the country and even beyond.

It is recognition of this fact that His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, C.O.N, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, acting pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Kogi State Honours Award Law, 2023, approved the conferment of State Honors on seventy-nine personalities in four different ranks of honor.
State award represents the highest form of recognition in the form of recognition of services in the form of high titles.

It is meant for Kogi indigenes who have distinguished themselves in the contributions to the social economic and political development of the State and Nigeria.It is an award to encourage those coming behind to emulate good leaders by contributing their quota to the state.

The essence of the award is to add value and encourage others to render selfless service to Kogi State and Nigeria.No doubt the unity and development of Kogi State is sacrosanct and His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello places the development of the state as uppermost his government which is a people first Government, because everybody is a stakeholder in the affairs of the state irrespective of religion, tribes and ethnic differences.

We have many respected and impactful indigenes of Kogi state, that has made their lasting contributions to the development of the state and are thus very deserving of the recognitions or awards that the state may deem it fit to accord to these pacemakers.

We therefore appeal to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to consider the following respected personalities from Ogori Magongo that had in the past represented the state as a good ambassador and still continue to contribute to the development of the state in their own ways.

First Black Secretary – General, United Nations
World Metrological Station, Geneva, Switzerland, 20years.

Prof. Olugemiro Akerejola, former Director, School of General and Remedial Studies (SGRS) ,ABU, Zaria; Director, Academy Planning, ABU, Zaria;
DG, Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

Son to Prof. PCA DAUDU and Pioneer SAN/National President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Kogi Central and several others.

Out of the 79 awardees, only one is from Ogori Magongo,inspite of the large and stellar qualities of the numerous indigenes that had contributed immensely to the development of Kogi state and also made lasting impacts in their various field of endeavors

We want to use this medium to heartily congratulate Professor Olugbemiro Jegede for his nomination, the pioneer Vice Chancellor of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) we take immense pride in acknowledging and honouring your exceptional support and your unwavering dedication to the advancement of Higher Education in Africa, your contribution to the development of Kogi state. Your passion in every of his national and international engagements will continue to serves as an inspiration to the good people of Kogi state and the entire Africa and beyond.

We have no doubt in our mind that the award will go a long way to catalyze the determination of the indigene to work for the development of the state.

We use this medium to appreciate and commends His Excellence Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his exemplary stewardship in steering the ship of Kogi State since assuming office in January 2016. An administration that continues to operate a well-thought-out agenda of New Direction Agenda, which has turned to state to the epicentre of development.

We pledged our full support for the incoming administration in the state.
