The virement and supplementary appropriation bill has passed through first reading in Kogi State House of Assembly.
This followed the adoption of the report of the Joint House Committee on Budget, Appropriation as well as that of Judiciary, Justice and Legal Matters on the request by Governor Yahaya Bello for over twenty billion Naira upward review of the twenty-twenty budget estimate.
The Chairman of the Joint Committee, Mr. Aderonke Aro enjoined the House to give the bill accelerated hearing in view of its importance to the economic needs of the people of Kogi State.
Meanwhile, Kogi State Government have been called upon to complete the rehabilitation of the Oguma-Sheria Bridge in Bassa Local Government Area.
This came following a motion by the Member of representing Bassa, Mr. Rayi Daniyan and seconded by Chief Moses Ododo of Dekina/Biraidu Constituency calling on the State to mobilize the contractor handling the project to return to site.
According to Mr. Daniyan, the project has reached seventy percent completion, saying the bridge is important for the socio economic lives of the people of the area.
He said the project when completed will create easy to the popular Sheria market.
Other members, Chief Moses Ododo and Mr. Enema Paul called for urgent attention for the bridge towards restoring businesses activities in the Community.
Similarly, a bill for a law to provide for the Administration of Physical Planning, Urban Development, Urban Regeneration and Building Control in Kogi State has passed through second reading.
The private member bill is sponsored by the Speaker Prince Matter Kolawole.
