Leaders of Ward ‘D’ in Lokoja Local Government Area, comprising traditional and political influences, have paid a visit to the speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf to express their gratitude for the opportunity he has given to one of their sons, Mallam Salisu Datti, to serve as his Chief Protocol Officer.
They also congratulated the speaker for his emergence as the head of Kogi State Legislature, stressing their belief that he would succeed in view of his antecedents as a political heavyweight with sound knowledge of politics in Lokoja Local Government and the state in general.
The Speaker thanked them for the visit and said rather than expecting a show of gratitude from the leaders, instead, he is thanking them because the appointee has brought value to his office and urged them to continue to support the APC and the current administration, especially as November gubernatorial election draws nearer.
Speaking for the team, the Chairman of APC in Lokoja LGA, Alhaji Maikudi Bature and the Hakimi of the Ward, Alhaji Isa Nasidi, both expressed gratitude to the speaker for the appointment and said it showed that he has good eyes for talents and capacity, assuring him that he would not regret the opportunity.
On his part, the member representing Lokoja I State Constituency, Hon Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani (BEST), who added his voice, noted that the speaker is already adding value to the state through the legsilature, and expressed confidence in his ability to turn around the fortune of the state through lawmaking.
