We won’t allow fifth columnists to destroy APC in Ekiti LGA, says Lawmaker

A member representing Ekiti Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ganiyu Abolarin Gabriel, has raised the alarm that certain fifth columnists are out to destroy the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
The lawmaker, who was reacting to the alleged suspension of the APC Chairman of the Ekiti local government area, Mr. Wale Awelewa, said many of the fifth columnists, who have been known to be hobnobbing with the opposition in the state, want to take the advantage of the forthcoming primary elections to cause confusion and mischief in the ruling party.
It would be recalled that the APC in Opin Ward had suspended the party Chairman in Ekiti Local Government Area, Mr Wale Awelewa, over alleged financial misconduct and for endorsing Hon. Ganiyu Abolarin Gabriel for second term in office.
However, Gabriel said there was no meeting held in the name of the party where Awelewa was suspended, declaring that those who allegedly carried out the suspension were not known as executive members of the party, adding that his recent endorsement for re-election by the APC stakeholders in the local government area was based on his performance in office.
He described as laughable the recent report that the Chairman of the APC in Ekiti Local Government Area, Mr Wale Awelewa, had been suspended from the party, saying that Awelewa remained the authentic chairman of the party in the local government area.
Gabriel, who chaired the Committee on Works and Transport in the state House of Assembly, said the state leadership of the APC was aware of the sponsors of these mischief makers in the party, vowing that they would soon be exposed to the public.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would be re-elected in 2023 due to his trail blazing achievements in changing the narrative of governance in the state.
