Why We postpone Lokoja Day Anniversary- Lawal.
The Lokoja day anniversary which is schedule to take place on Saturday 26, September 2020 has been postponed indefinitely.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the chairman Organizing Committee,Alhaji Aliu Jiya Lawal, Maiyaki of Lokoja on Friday and made available to newsmen.
According to the organisers,the occasion was cancelled to enable Lokoja citizens at home and in the disporah to join Kogi state Government and other citizens to mourn the victim of tanker explosion
The statement reads:
“The year 2020 edition of LOkoja Anniversary Celebration earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday 26 September 2020 has been postponed indefinitely.
The postponement was to allow all sons and daughters of Lokoja to join the Goverment and the rest citizens of Kogi State to mourn the death of the victims of the fuel tanker explosion, which sad incident occurred in the early morning of Wednesday 23 September at Felele Village.
Any inconveniences caused by this postponement are highily regretted, please.
The public is also requested to note that prayers will be held in various Mosques on Friday 25″ September, 2020 and Churches on Sunday 27th September for peace, progress and development of Kagi State, and Lokoja in particular, as well for the repose of the souls of the victims of the explosion”, the statement said.
