Nwuchiola Egwaba bags Most Proactive Deputy Speaker in North Central Nigeria Award

For leaving legacies that will stand the test of time behind in the political offices where she has served,
a Non Governmental Organization known as the Nigeria House of Dream Parliament ( NHODP) has conferred the Most Proactive Deputy Speaker Award on Kogi State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Mrs Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba.
Nigeria House of Dream Parliament also decorated Rt Hon Mrs Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba with the Most Powerful Colour in Africa Award and presented her a Nigerian General Certificate.
These were based on the results of the three years of researches carried out by the NGO on Rt Hon Mrs Nwuchiola Egwaba.
Responding, the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Mrs Comfort Nwuchiola – Egwaba appreciated the NGO whose members were not moved to confer awards based on money.
While dedicating the awards to all women and the supportive staff of Kogi State House of Assembly, she said that the awards would spur her to do more for humanity and Kogi State in particular.
The Deputy Speaker availed herself the opportunity to appreciate former Governor Yahaya Bello for giving women the enabling ground to actively play partisan politics , adding that without his being feminine gender friendly , cultural and family factors would have deprived women good political opportunities.
Talking about some of her achievements as the first Deputy Speaker in Kogi State and the first female legislator to contest and win election in Ibaji local Government, she said she successfully joined the executive to sponsor Kogi State Oil Development Commission Bill which has been passed and assented to, noting that she would remain grateful to Governor Bello who allowed her the opportunity of being co pertner in the sponsorship of the bill.
Nwuchiola – Egwaba also commended Gov Usman Ododo for his style of leadership, particularly in consolidating on Bello’s achievements in terms of giving women political opportunities.
She said that in Gov Ododo’s administration, women have been fairly represented , just as she asked for more elective and appointive political positions for women.
The Deputy Speaker also disclosed that though she has her limit on the number of legislative aides she can engage but in view of the economic situation of Nigeria there are about 25 legislative aides she has engaged and paying them salaries from her salary according to their qualifications.
Speaking further, Nwuchiola Egwaba promised that the 8th Kogi Assembly would continue to be the needed change people want , pointing out that they have been able to correct some wrongs they met on ground.
She attributed their success to the unity among the legislators ..
Also speaking, Clerk of the House and Head of Legislative Sevice, Kogi State House of Assembly, Alh Chogudo Sule Ahmed who congratulated the Deputy Speaker on the conferments of the awards, described the ceremony as a colorful one, pointing out that he could not agree less with the results of the research carried out by the NGO.
He prayed God that the Deputy Speaker will continue her good work.
Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament, Nigeria House of Dream Parliament, Comrade Mike Ingila said the awards which were not motivated by money were based on a three year research work on the Deputy Speaker .
According to him, the awardee had impacted positively on humanity and her community and left lasting legacies that would stand the test of time in places where she had served .
Ingila noted that Nwuchiola contributed overwhelmingly to the health sector while serving as Supervisory Councillor on Health in Ibaji LGA and also as Chairperson of Ibaji LGA , she was able to contribute positively to the human and infrastructural developments of the council .
Above all, the NGO spokesperson said the Deputy Speaker has been able to give quality representation without descrimination to any tribe or religion .
