Children’s Day Celebration: Deputy Speaker, KSHA Urges all to Invest in Children

The Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba has felicitated with children all over the state on this year’s Children’s Day Celebration. She urged parents and guardians to hugely invest in their children. She said the quality of a child is dependent on the kind of training he or she is being given.

Speaking to journalists on this year’s theme, “For every child, every right.” The lawmaker said we cannot have a bright future, when many children are being neglected. She said she is passionate about carrying out programmes and projects that will ensure that Ibaji children are given sound and quality education, which will enable them to reach their fullest potentials.

Hon Egwaba said it is time for us to move from the usual rhetoric of saying “Children are the leaders of tomorrow.” to invest in children and make them understand that their future starts now.

The legislator said this is achievable with sound policies and programmes that will put to an end, child labour, child trafficking, insecurity and displacement, poor nutrition and lack of developmental tools and basic amenities for the Nigerian children.

She specifically lamented on the kind of education being given to children in Ibaji. She promised to work with stakeholders to ensure that the bar is being raised to an admirable height.
