The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has conferred fellowship Award on the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf.
The speaker was informed of the development when the State Executive of ANAN was led on a courtesy visit by its Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Oricha.
Reacting to the the news, the speaker expressed gratitude to Kogi ANAN for the honour, noting that he takes pride in the recognition by his professional colleagues.
He noted that this is the best time to be a professional accountant in the state in view of the sterling roles they have continued to play in improving the state’s financial sector.
He said since the inception of the immediate past administration, professional accountants have been playing key roles in both executive and legislative arms to turn around the state’s fortunes for the better.
Earlier in his remarks, the State chairman of ANAN, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Oricha, said the decision to confer the award on the speaker was due to his diligence and demonstration of capacity for the good of the accounting profession.
He particularly applauded the speaker for his transparent and accountable leadership style, stressing that he has been a good advertisement for the body.
In his remarks, the clerk of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Chogudo expressed gratitude to ANAN in the state, stating that as a member, he is proud to work with Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf who has demonstrated capacity as an accountant.
