In the build up to the 2027 governorship election in Kwara state, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the three local government areas of Isin, Ilorin West and Ilorin East on Tuesday unanimously said that Kwara South district parades most qualified governorship aspirants among over 15 aspirants in the race.
In their separate meetings in Oke Onigbin, Mandate and Zango areas of Ilorin, the APC members endorsed the former state chairman of the party, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, as the most competent governorship aspirant capable of continuing impactful development of the incumbent governor of the state, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
The APC members, under the aegis of the ISIN PROGRESSIVE LIKEMINDS, and led by Kayode Olaoye, said that their support for the gubernatorial aspiration of Hon. Bolarinwa, followed consultations, grassroots’ engagement and appraisal of the socio-cultural and economic landscape of Kwara state.
“We are firmly persuaded that
the exigencies of this period demand visionary, inclusive, and
transformative leadership. Leadership that transcends sectional considerations and engenders cohesion, equity and enduring development across the State.
The people, drawn from across the 11 wards of the local government later resolved at the meeting to mobilize grassroots support across the 11 wards, engage stakeholders, traditional institutions, community leaders and opinion moulders in advancing the governorship agenda.
Also speaking, the convener of the
Ilorin West stakeholders meeting
that brought together party elders, executives, women, youth groups and key political actors across the 12 wards in the council, Hon. Ayo Obisesan, and an APC leader in the area, Professor Yahya Duro Uthman Hambali, said that the caucus had resolved to back a candidate it considers capable of driving the state’s future.
“
Today is not just another political gathering. Today, we are making history. Today, we are choosing the future over the past, progress over stagnation, and hope over despair,” he said.
Explaining the rationale behind the endorsement, Hambali and Obisesan said that the endorsement represents a shared commitment between the people and the candidate.
Also, party stalwarts, under the umbrella of the Ilorin East Progressive Caucus, conveyed their support for President Bola Tinubu and Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa through voice affirmation.
In his affirmation speech, Chairman of the caucus Chief Babatunde Asanlu said that, “we proudly declare our full support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
“Since taking office, the President has shown courage and vision through bold reforms aimed at rebuilding Nigeria.
“His administration has delivered key policies such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate reforms, infrastructure renewal, and the student loan programme for Nigerian youths.
“These steps are laying a solid foundation for national progress. We therefore believe he deserves a second term to sustain and complete these reforms.”
On the endorsement of former APC chair, Chief Asanlu said that “Hon. Bolarinwa is a tested leader with proven experience, broad acceptance, and a strong grassroots connection.
