CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Surveyor Samuel Timothy, fondly known as SAM3, Technical Representative of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, in the early hours of Sunday, April 26.

On behalf of the Ogori Descendants Union, I extend our deepest condolences first and foremost to his family and loved ones. Your loss is immeasurable, and our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. We also commiserate with the Nigeria volleyball community and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

This loss is deeply personal for us as a community. Only recently, we had the honour of hosting him in Ogori during the Ovia Osese Volleyball Competition. In recognition of his immense contributions to the sport and his enduring commitment to youth development, I formally named the tournament after him during the finals, the SAM3 Volleyball Competition. It was a moment of pride, respect, and well-deserved honour.

Surveyor Timothy’s presence elevated the event. His energy, warmth, and passion were unmistakable, and the joy his participation brought to players and spectators alike is something we will not forget.

Beyond his presence, he demonstrated rare generosity and foresight by pledging to sponsor all medals for the next edition of the competition, a gesture that clearly reflected his belief in sustaining excellence and investing in the future.

That we must now speak of him in the past is both shocking and painful. Yet, even in grief, we take solace in the impact he made, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind.

The Ogori Descendants Union stands in solidarity with his family, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, and the entire sporting community at this difficult time. We will continue to honour his memory and uphold the values he represented.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Dr. Gabriel Osiwomekwin Aiso

President, Ogori Descendants Union (ODU)
