The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad has commended the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU ), Federal College of Education, Okene branch, for organizing the 3rd National Conference, which she described the theme “Teacher Education in the Digital Era in Nigeria”, as timely and strategic.
According to the Minister, the theme aligns strongly with the ministry’s current vision of building an inclusive innovation and technology-driven education system that prepares Nigeria learners and teachers for global relevance.
She further noted that ICT integration in Colleges of Education are being strengthened and other teacher-training institutions, to prompt blended learning approaches and supporting the development of digital pedagogical skills.

n his address, the Provost of the College, Dr Ibrahim Ismaila Mosimabale, noted that as educators, they stand at critical point where they must embrace innovation, adapt to change and prepare teachers not just for today, but for the future.
He stated further that his vision is to position the College as a leading hub for digital education and innovation in teacher training. “We are committed to equipment our lecturers and students with the digital skills required to thrive in a technology-driven world. This means moving beyond traditional teaching methods and embracing modern tools such as e-learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and digital instructional resources”, he noted.
In line with his vision for the College, the Provost maintained that deliberate steps are being taken to improve on the digital infrastructure; which include the planned installation of a new solar powered grid, and the stepping down of the 33KVA power line, which passes through the College.
According to him, these efforts are essential for powering the digital learning system and ensuring that teaching and research activities are not disrupted by power outages.
Earlier, the College branch chairman of COEASU, Dr. Ismaila Azeez, while welcoming the participants to the conference, encouraged them to engage actively,share experiences, challenge assumptions and propose practical solutions.
He further urged the participants to take advantage of the wealth of experts at the conference to develop strategies that would strengthened Teacher Education and ultimately improve learning outcomes in Nigeria.
