Kogi West APC Stakeholders Allege Forgery in Senatorial Primary, Demand Probe, Reaffirmation of Karimi’s Win
A group of All Progressives Congress stakeholders and supporters in Kogi West Senatorial District has alleged the circulation of a forged result purporting to represent the outcome of the district’s APC senatorial primary held on May 18, 2026.
At a press conference in Kabba, the group spokesperson, Stanley Ajileye, said the alleged forged document was aimed at overturning the outcome of the primary in which Senator Sunday Karimi was declared winner. They called on the APC National Working Committee to reaffirm the authentic result, investigate the source of the forgery, and discipline those found culpable.
“We have invited you here today not merely to react to rumours or political propaganda, but to place before the public certain disturbing facts that strike at the very heart of internal democracy and party integrity,” a spokesperson for the group said.
According to the stakeholders, the Kogi West primary was “duly conducted” and “transparently supervised,” producing Karimi as the winner through a process recognized by party procedures. They said all aspirants had reached an understanding for party unity before the alleged forgery surfaced.
The group alleged that painstaking verification and internal consultations indicated the orchestration of the forgery “appears to have emanated from certain powerful internal elements within the APC structure in Kogi State.” They did not name individuals but said the development was “shocking and painful.”
“This is not merely about Senator Karimi. This is about whether democratic processes within our party should still have meaning,” the group said. “If this dangerous culture is tolerated, then no primary election in our party will ever again command credibility.”
The stakeholders listed four demands: immediate public reaffirmation of the authentic primary outcome; a thorough investigation into the forgery; disciplinary action against anyone found involved; and measures to protect the credibility of future internal party processes.
They said their position was not a declaration of war against the Kogi State government or the party leadership, reiterating loyalty to the APC and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We remain loyal members of the APC. However, loyalty to party does not require silence in the face of injustice,” the group stated, urging supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding.
As of press time, the APC in Kogi State and the party’s national secretariat had not issued an official response to the allegations.
The development comes amid rising political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Kogi West seen as a key battleground for the APC in the state.
