* Say Move”ll Nip Insecurity In The Bud
Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin
A group, under the aegis of the Kwara South Consultative Forum (KWSCF), has commended both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the establishment of an Army Battalion In Omu-Aran, Kwara South Senatorial District.
This monumental development, according to the Secretary-General of the KWSCF, Engr. Otunba Daramola Adebayo Simon, would go a long way to strengthen the security architecture in the Kwara South Senatorial District, particularly in the Ifelodun, Ekiti, Oke-Ero and Isin local government areas that have boarders with the Oro Forest Reserve and Oreke Hill, where bandits use as hideouts to perpetrate their nefarious activities.
According to the Forum, the approval was indeed a historic milestone and a reflection of President Tinubu’s broad-mindedness towards solving Nigeria’s security challenges, noting that such a sensitive security architecture had hitherto been concentrated in just one zone for the whole of Nigeria.
The Forum also applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for “his role and collaboration with the Federal Government, which played a significant role in facilitating this landmark security intervention for Kwara State as a whole, and particularly the Kwara South Senatorial District”.
The organisation further extended its sincere appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for his steadfast support and dedication to the realisation of the military formation, describing the approval as a major boost to the region’s security architecture and a decisive step towards ensuring lasting peace in the area.
It added: “Before now, there had been military units based in specific locations in Kwara South where the security challenges appear pronounced.
“With this development,
the Forum observed that the security of the area deeply affected by banditry and kidnapping will not only be guaranteed but also improved on, resulting in attracting investments to the area, which wouldn’t have happened without peace.”
In the same vein, another group, the Aro Meta Kwara South, while lauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for this great security milestone, opined that “it will strengthen the zone’s security outfit, particularly in the Ifelodun, Ekiti, Oke- Ero and Isin Local Government Areas that are more prone to the vicious activities of these mindless non-state actors”.
A statement by Engr. Otunba Daramola Adebayo Simon, the
Group’s Coordinator, said: “This milestone is highly commendable, apt and appropriate. Indeed, it epitomizes President Tinubu’s broad-mindedness and determination in solving Nigeria’s security challenges. This monumental development and gesture is welcome by us and the residents of the Kwara South Senatorial District giving the fact that this security architecture had hitherto been concentrated in just a zone for the whole of Nigeria.
“We also applaud Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for collaborating with the Federal Government to make this possible. Our thanks also goes to the Chief of Army Staff for his unwavering support to making the military formation a reality.”
The group, therefore, pledged its unalloyed support towards President Tinubu’s reelection bid, while also assuring of its unwavering loyalty and commitment to the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
