The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Nazir Kankarfi, on Thursday bestowed commendation awards on police officers of both senior and junior ranks for outstanding service.
The ceremony was held at the Police Command Headquarters, Lokoja.
Speaking at the event, CP Kankarfi said the awards were in recognition of the dedication, hard work, and professionalism displayed by the officers in the course of their duties.
“I want to commend those officers that have distinguished themselves in performing their duties diligently,” he said.
According to him, the awardees excelled in areas such as intelligence gathering, capacity building, successful anti-kidnapping operations, professional training of officers, and teamwork.
The CP urged senior officers to continue to show leadership by example, noting that young officers look up to them.
“The award is a reward for excellence. Let this motivate you to do more for the people of Kogi State,” he added.
CP Kankarfi expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Olatunde Egbetokun, for his support in the fight against crime in Kogi State.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for prioritizing security in the state.
He further acknowledged the contributions of other security agencies and the media, saying: “Together we shall continue to build a greater Kogi State.”
One of the awardees, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the Commissioner of Police for the recognition, promising to redouble efforts in service to the state.
