Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi has been named Secretary of the Sport Sector Mobilisation Directorate in the proposed 2027 All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council.
According to a 22-page membership list of the proposed council currently in circulation, Dr. Abdullahi appears as number 109 and will serve under the directorate saddled with the responsibility of mobilising support from the sports sector ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Sport Sector Mobilisation Directorate will be headed by former Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, who is listed as Director.
Also named as Deputy Directors are former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, and former Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo.
Dr. Abdullahi’s designation as Secretary places him among key officials assigned specific responsibilities within the sports mobilisation structure of the proposed campaign council.
The Sport Sector Mobilisation Directorate is one of several specialised sectoral directorates contained in the membership document. Other directorates listed include Youth, Women, Creative, Health, Education, Agro-Allied, Manufacturing and other sector-specific mobilisation structures.
The document further lists President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman of the proposed 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima is named Vice Chairman I.
The composition of the proposed council brings together politicians, government officials, sports personalities, entertainers and professionals from various sectors of the economy.
The broad-based structure is expected to provide the framework for mobilising support across different segments of the country ahead of the 2027 presidential campaign.
Dr. Abdullahi’s emergence in the sports mobilisation directorate underscores the importance attached to the sports sector in the APC’s proposed campaign strategy. His appointment is also expected to place him at the centre of efforts to engage stakeholders and mobilise support within the sports community for the party’s presidential campaign.
The membership list, however, remains a proposed campaign structure as contained in the circulated 22-page document.
