Hajia Kawu To Unveil Healthcare Foundation To Support Kwara Women

Hajia Zainab Titilayo Arike Kale Kawu, wife of the Kwara State governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has put necessary machinery in motion to mark her 56th birthday anniversary with a renewed commitment to humanitarian service and community development.
The birthday anniversary, which holds on Monday, August 31, 2026, will feature the official launch of the Arike Hopeful Hearts Foundation, alongside a special health outreach designed to provide medical support and health education for women in the State.
A statement by the Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, Mrs Adeola Funsho, said the
Foundation launch and birthday celebration will take place at the family house of Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu in Agaka community, Ilorin, where the official logo of the foundation will also be unveiled.
She said: “The initiative reflects Hajia Zainab Kale Kawu’s passion for improving the wellbeing of women and children and her belief that meaningful service to humanity should not be limited to holding public office.
“Through the Arike Hopeful Hearts Foundation, she seeks to provide a structured platform for humanitarian interventions and initiatives that respond to the needs of vulnerable people, particularly women and children, while promoting access to basic healthcare and creating opportunities for people to live healthier and more dignified lives.”
A major feature of the inaugural programme, the Chairperson stated, will be a comprehensive health outreach for women, offering basic medical checks, screening and consultations, with particular attention to diabetes and hypertension, as well as health concerns associated with post-menopause.
She added: “Doctors and other medical experts will be on ground to educate participants on the causes, prevention and management of diabetes and hypertension, while also providing guidance on recognising symptoms early and seeking appropriate medical care.
“The experts will equally speak on post-menopausal health, self-awareness and the importance of understanding changes that accompany menopause, with emphasis on the dangers of self-medication and the need to consult qualified healthcare professionals.
“Participants requiring further medical attention will be advised appropriately, while prescribed medications and drugs will be dispensed as part of the outreach.
“Beyond the immediate medical intervention, the programme is intended to promote a culture of health awareness among women, empowering them with the knowledge required to identify potential health challenges early and take informed steps towards treatment and prevention.
“The choice of women as primary beneficiaries of the inaugural outreach underscores Hajia Zainab Kale Kawu’s particular interest in issues affecting women and families, while the broader vision of the foundation extends to children and other vulnerable members of society.
“Her decision to launch the foundation as she marks her 56th birthday also reflects a philosophy of giving back and creating impact irrespective of political position or public office.
“It is a philosophy that mirrors the service-oriented outlook associated with her husband, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, whose interventions and community engagements have earned him recognition for his commitment to people and development both within Kwara and beyond.
