The Senate of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, 9th September, 2026, approved Resit Examination for eligible final-year and spill-over students of the University.
The approval which was based on the proposal by the Director of Academic Planning and Development, Professor Joseph Olukayode Ogunbiyi, is aimed at addressing outstanding course deficiencies, and for students to complete their studies within the approved period.
The programme, which takes effect from the 2026/2027 Academic Session, is designed for final-year and eligible spill-over students who had previously registered for, sat and failed courses required for graduation.
It is intended to reduce avoidable spill-over and provide students with an opportunity to clear outstanding courses within the approved tenancy.
To be eligible for the programme, students must have a CGPA of at least 1.00, must not have exhausted the approved tenancy for their programmes and must have been screened by their departments and faculties.
Students who registered for courses in the regular semester but did not sit for the examinations are not eligible.
Eligible students may register for a minimum of one and a maximum of ten courses, subject to the normal credit-load provisions of the University.
Applications for enrollment will be processed through Heads of Department and Deans after scrutiny of students’ academic records, while successful applicants will obtain Bursary clearance and register for approved courses.
Speaking after the approval, the Chairman of Senate and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, described the programme as a strategic intervention aimed at reducing insecurity associated with spill-over or over-stayed students, lessening financial burden on students and giving them opportunity for timely graduation.
He commended the Director of Academic Planning for the initiative, and Senate for its foresight and commitment to students’ academic progress.
Professor Usman reaffirmed Management’s commitment to student-centred policies that promote academic progress and welfare while preserving the integrity of the University’s academic system.
He enjoined the students to take advantage of this noble opportunity to ensure timely graduation.
