The bill was passed during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, following deliberations by members of the House on the proposed amendment and its potential role in addressing security challenges across the country.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, who represents Ibaji State Constituency, lent her voice in support of the bill on behalf of her constituency.

The deliberations also highlighted the importance of adequate funding, proper training and equipment, as well as safeguards against political interference and human rights abuses, to ensure that the proposed policing arrangement serves its intended purpose.
The passage of the bill marks a step in the ongoing constitutional amendment process concerning the proposed establishment of State Police in Nigeria.
