Peaceful Eid held in ilorin

*’Kwara Gov, Emir, Mustapha pray for sustainable peace, progress for Nigeria

Eid-al-Adha prayer was held under a peaceful atmosphere at the Ilorin Central Praying Ground as Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, top government officials, title chiefs, and party chieftains observed amid colour and glamour from the congregants.

After meandering through the traffic gridlock right from the Abdulwahab Folawiyo (Unity) road, the Governor’s convoy arrived the Eid in a white coaster bus at about 9.45am.

On the entourage of the Governor were Mutawali of Ilorin Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq; the Turaki of Ilorin and Senator representing Kwara Central Salihu Mustapha and a Chieftain of APC, Attahiru AbdulKadir Manko.

In a short interview after observing the Eid prayers, the Governor prayed to Allaah to make peace, unity, and progress permanent features of the state and Nigeria.

“We thank Almighty Allaah for making us witness another Eid. My message is about peace, unity and progress of the country I wish us all Eidun Mubaarak,” the Governor said

AbdulRazaq called on citizens to remain unitee and work for a better country.

For his part, the Turaki of Ilorin Senator Saliu Mustapha rejoiced with Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha and prayed Allaah to accept it as an act of worship.

“May Allaah accept our act of Iba’dah. May He spare our lives to witness more of it,” Senator Mustapha prayed.

The prayer got underway some minutes before 10 after the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Imam of Imale of Ilorin Shaykh Abdullah AbdulHameed and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq arrived the praying ground.

The Eid prayer was attended by a rainbow of senior citizens, statesmen, and title holders from across the Emirate, including the Waziri of Ilorin Dr Bukola Saraki; Grand Mufti of Ilorin Shaykh Sulaiman Faruk Onikijipa; Former Vice Chancellors Profs Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem and AbdulRasheed Na’Allah; former Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Alfa Belgore.

The Emir prayed for continuous peace and prosperity for the state and Nigeria, urging unity among sons and daughters of the Emirate.

In his sermon, the Imam of Imale of Ilorin Shaykh Abdullah AbdulHameed advised the congregants to reflect and imbibe the lessons of Eid-al-Adha.
