Group reiterates commitment to Ab’dulrazaq’s Prosperity Agenda

A political group, under the aegis of the Coalition of Kwara APC Young Stakeholders (C-KAYS), has reaffirmed its commitment to the Prosperity Agenda of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq saying “as citizens and stakeholders in the future of our State, it is important that we periodically reflect on our collective journey, appreciate the progress that has been made, and safeguard the gaihs achieved under the present administration”.
Addressing a press conference on Friday in Ilorin, the stare capital, the Coordinator of the Coalition, Mallam Abiola Nasir, noted that when AbdulRazaq assumed office in 2019, he inherited a quantum of developmental challenges across virtually every sector of the State.
According to him, the condition of governance at that time was far from satisfactory, and many public institutions had fallen short of the objectives for which they were established.
He said: “The civil service was confronted with numerous challenges, including inadequate welfare packages, irregular remuneration, and limited opportunities for professional development. The absence of consistent training and capacity-building programmes affected productivity and hindered efficient service delivery to the people of Kwara State.
“In the education sector, learning conditions were poor across many schools within the sixteen local government areas of the state. Teachers lacked regular training and retraining programmes necessary to equip them with modern teaching methods. Educational grants and intervention funds that should have enhanced learning outcomes yielded little visible impact. School infrastructure was largely inadequate, leaving students vulnerable to poor academic performance.
“The healthcare sector was equally challenged. Health facilities were in poor condition, there was a shortage of qualified personnel, and access to essential medications was limited. Despite various interventions and grants from development partners and international organisations, many healthcare facilities showed little evidence of meaningful improvement.
“Road infrastructure across the state was also in a deplorable state. Many roads were difficult to navigate, affecting transportation, economic activities, and access to markets. The poor state of infrastructure discouraged investment and limited opportunities for economic growth.”
He lamented that Kwara State was widely regarded as one of the economically disadvantaged states in Nigeria despite several poverty alleviation initiatives and intervention programmes from both national and international organisations, saying the impact on ordinary citizens was minimal.
Youth unemployment, he added, remained high, exposing many young people to social vices and limiting their opportunities for personal and economic advancement,
“Youths, women, and other qualified individuals were largely excluded from meaningful participation in governance and leadership. The opportunities for inclusion, innovation, and private-sector participation were significantly limited.
“These realities were evident to many Kwarans before the emergence of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“Upon assumption of office, Governor AbdulRazaq embarked on a comprehensive assessment of the state’s challenges and developed a practical blueprint for sustainable development. Through prudent management of resources and a commitment to transparency and accountability, his administration began implementing reforms that have transformed the state,” he stated.
According to the Coordinator, the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq created, among others, opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation, and youth empowerment, pointing to the Kwara Innovation Hub as a landmark achievement, nurturing young talents, attracting global
partnerships, and positioning Kwara as an emerging destination for technology and enterprise.
On infrastructure development, Nasir said road infrastructure has witnessed unprecedented investment under this administration, adding that the state roads have been massively constructed and rehabilitated, linking communities, opening rural economies, improving access to markets, and facilitating the movement of people and goods.
The education sector, he said, has recorded remarkable progress through the construction and renovation of schools, provision of modern learning facilities, and continuous training and retraining of teachers, while the Governor also successfully restored access to critical UBEC intervention funds that had previously faced challenges, noting that the resources have been judiciously utilized to improve educational infrastructure and learning outcomes.
“Today, Kwara SUBEB is widely recognized among the leading basic education boards in Nigeria. These interventions are laying a Stronger foundation for quality education and a brighter future for our children,” he opined.
Other sectors solidly touched by the administration, according to the Coordinator, include healthcare, poverty alleviation and social investment, civil service, and local government development.
On insecurity, he lauded Ab’dulrazaq’s administration for demonstrating strong leadership through proactive and coordinated security interventions, noting that the government has strengthened collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, and local communities to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms.
“Patrols have been intensified on major highways and vulnerable rural routes, while continuous engagem engagement with federal security authorities has ensured timely deployment of personnel and resources where necessary.
“While acknowledging that Security remains a work in progress, we commend the efforts of the government and our Security agencies and call on all citizens to continue Supporting lawful measures aimed at protecting our communities.
“These achievements reflect a government committed to inclusive development, responsible leadership, and people-centred governance,” he stated.
Pm the party’s governorship primary election, the group appealed to those who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the process for understanding, patience, and constructive engagement.
It added: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) remains one united family. Differences should be resolved through dialogue and established party mechanisms rather than actions capable of weakening our collective strength. At this critical moment, unity remains our greatest asset.”
The group also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to democracy, peace, and good governance across Nigeria, assuring hom of the group’s commitment to his reelection in 2027.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of the President aligns closely with the developmental strides being witnessed in Kwara State. We are confident that continued collaboration between the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government will further accelerate development, improve security, and expand economic opportunities for our people.
“We call for sincere and comprehensive reconciliation within our great party, Try, reconciliation requires open dialogue, mutual respect, inclusiveness, ang , commitment to collective progress.”
