Kwara 2027: APC Senatorial Candidate Rallies Youths For Governance

The Kwara North Senatorial candidate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, Dr. Mahmud Umar Muhammad, has called on the youths to take a more active role in governance and community development, describing them as critical partners in shaping the future of the district and Kwara State at large.
Dr. Mahmud made the call during an engagement with members of the Patigi Progressive Minded Youths (PPMY) in Patigi local government area of Kwara State, where he sought stronger collaboration with youth groups and community-based organisations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the development aspiration of the Kwara North Senatorial District could only be achieved through purposeful leadership, unity and active participation by all stakeholders, particularly the youths, whom he described as indispensable to sustainable growth and democratic governance.
The APC senatorial hopeful briefed the youths on his political journey, the experiences gathered during the party’s primary election and his vision for the senatorial district, while urging them to remain committed to promoting peace, civic engagement and community development.
He also appealed to the group to support the APC across board in the 2027 general elections, stressing that lasting progress would require collective commitment and partnerships across communities.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by both parties to sustain collaboration in pursuit of the development of Patigi Local Government Area and the wider Kwara North Senatorial District.
As part of his post-primary consultations, Dr. Mahmud also paid a thank-you visit to Kpada Ward 1 in Patigi Local Government Area, where he appreciated party members and residents for their support during the APC senatorial primary.
He assured the community that, if elected, every part of Kwara North would benefit from inclusive representation through equitable distribution of projects, empowerment programmes and accessible leadership.
“Our administration will be for everyone. We will ensure that every community in Kwara North feels the impact of quality representation through projects, empowerment and accessible governance,” he said.
He urged residents to sustain their support as the APC shifts attention to the 2027 general elections, noting that the primary election marked only the first phase of the political process.
Community leaders and residents of Kpada Ward 1 pledged continued support for the APC and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The consultations culminated in a homecoming rally in Patigi, where Dr. Mahmud and the APC House of Assembly candidate for Patigi Constituency, Hon. Aliyu Dangana Yusuf, were received by a large crowd of supporters.
Addressing the gathering, the APC senatorial candidate expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and party leaders across Kwara State for the confidence reposed in him during the party’s nomination process. He said the support he received would strengthen his resolve to pursue people-centred representation and remain accountable to constituents.
He further urged party supporters to remain united and avoid actions capable of undermining the APC’s chances in the 2027 elections, saying cohesion within the party would be crucial to translating its electoral strength into victory at the polls.
The event attracted APC stakeholders, including the Chairman of Patigi Local Government Area, Hon. Ahmed Adam Rufai; the member representing Patigi Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Musa Kareem; APC Chairman in Patigi LGA, Hon. Mohammed Idris Pata; the Chigari of Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Mohammed Shaaba Emangi; ward executives and other party leaders.
Dr. Mahmud pledged to pursue effective representation anchored on infrastructure development, youth empowerment, human capital development and responsive leadership if elected.
The series of engagements forms part of the APC candidate’s grassroots mobilisation efforts as political parties intensify consultations and build support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
