Intelligence, Key To Effective Security Operations: Kwara NSCDC Boss

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has commenced a three-day Professional Development Programme aimed at strengthening ethical intelligence sharing, enhancing operational collaboration, and deepening inter-agency synergy in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The programme, organized by the Command’s Intelligence and Investigation Department, opened on Tuesday at the State Library Conference Hall, Ilorin, under the theme: “Ethical and Actionable Intelligence Sharing and Operational Collaboration Among Security Agencies in Nigeria.”
Declaring the programme open, the Kwara State Commandant, Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed, represented by the 2ic of the Command, DCC Ayelabowo Isaac Olusegun, described intelligence as the cornerstone of effective security operations, emphasizing that modern security threats demand a coordinated, intelligence-driven, and ethically guided response from all security stakeholders.
He observed that the contemporary security landscape, characterized by terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cybercrime, violent extremism, illegal mining, vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, and other forms of organized crime has reinforced the need for stronger institutional collaboration, timely intelligence exchange, and unified operational strategies.
The Commandant stressed that no security agency can effectively confront these complex threats in isolation, noting that sustainable national security can only be achieved through mutual trust, professionalism, accountability, respect for human rights, and responsible intelligence management.
He further stated that the training programme was deliberately designed to equip participants with contemporary knowledge and practical skills in intelligence gathering and analysis, ethical intelligence management, investigative report writing, operational planning, joint operations, human rights compliance, financial crime investigation, public relations, and other critical components of modern security administration.
According to him, the initiative aligns with the vision of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, whose unwavering commitment to continuous capacity development has continued to strengthen the Corps’ operational effectiveness and professionalism nationwide.
The Commandant urged participants to take full advantage of the lectures, practical sessions, case studies, and interactive discussions, stressing that the knowledge acquired should translate into improved service delivery, enhanced intelligence coordination, and more effective protection of lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
The training brings together participants from the NSCDC and resource persons from sister security, law enforcement, and professional institutions, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigeria Customs Service, Central Bank of Nigeria, National Human Rights Commission, Nigerian Bar Association, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The three-day programme, scheduled to run from 4th to 6th August 2026, reflects the NSCDC Kwara State Command’s strategic commitment to institutional excellence, operational readiness, and fostering a robust framework for intelligence-led security operations through sustained inter-agency collaboration.
