Court ordered PDP to conduct a fresh Ward and Local government elections in Nasarawa state

A High Court in Akwanga ,Nasarawa state has ordered the People’s Democratic party PDP to conduct a fresh Ward and Local government elections in the state for Executive members of the party with immediate effect..

In a judgment in Akwanga, Justice Mustafa Ramat also declared null and void the purported Ward and Local government Congresses held by the party on 7 and 21st March this year..

According to Justice Mustafa Ramat ,the PDP in the state flouted and abused the party’s constitution on election of its officials at all levels..

He further restrained the National leadership of PDP from accepting or recognizing any results of Ward and local government Congresses from Nasarawa state until a proper election is organized ..

Counsel to the plaintiffs Mr Yahaya Dangana described the ruling as justice to members of the party at the grassroots.

In his submission, counsel to the second defendant which is the state working committee of the party ,Barrister Oche Olegede said he would consult with his client for the next line of action…

A group of 13 PDP members from various local government areas had dragged the state PDP and Working committee to court over irregularities and non compliance to guidelines for Ward and local government election of officials of the party….
