Covid-19: EqualFooting Partners Babatunde Irukera Foundation, Distributes Food Items to 500 People in Kogi Community
As Nigeria continues to battle with the fight against Coronavirus, a like mind group known as EqualFooting in partnership with the Babatunde Irukera Foundation have distributed food items to 500 people in Okoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State to cushion the impact of the lock down caused as a result of the Virus.
The Chairman of the group, Mr. Durotiwon Kayode told Newsmen that the distribution of the food items which include; tubers of yam, Rice and beans was the group’s way of giving back to the community that brought them up at a time like this.
“EqualFooting is a group of likeminded young people imbued with the heart of giving back to the community that helped to shape our later years.”
“In our journey and commitment, we have helped to bridge gaps in School fee payment of the indigents in OGHS; Hiring of Corp members to complement dearth of Teachers in OGHS; Payment of WAEC registration fees for some of the students who have shortfalls and lately coming up with palliatives to ease off the burden that comes with pandemic Covid 19.” Mr. Kayode stated.
He further said “Our modest contributions have helped in no small measure to cushion the effect of the harsh economy reality that stare at us. Our mantra is ‘leaving no one behind’ and it’s a commitment we wear like a garment. Our resolve is to give back to the society and that we are doing.”
According to him, EqualFooting decided to partner with the Babatunde Irukera Foundation due to their believe in the leadership qualities of the Director General of Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Barrister Babatunde Irukera which is taking the welfare of the people first.
He advised the people not to lose hope but continue to observe all the health protocols provided to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Speaking on behalf of the Community, the President of Okoro Gbede Development Association (ODA), Mr. Durotiwon Pedro commended the gesture of the group, saying the palliative will go a long way in reducing the economic hardship faced by the people due to the lock down.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Like mind group and Babatunde Irukera Foundation for their benevolence and prayed God to reward them.
