IDA Congratulates Right Reverend Asaju on his Consecration as Bishop of Ijesha Anglican Diocese

The Iyara Development Association (IDA) has congratulated one of her own, Right Reverend Prof. Dapo Asaju on his consecration as the Anglican Bishop of Ijesha Diocese, Church of Nigeria which took place over the weekend.

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion House of Bishops’ Episcopal Synod had at its meeting held on Thursday 24th February at Evo Diocese, St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Portharcourt, Rivers State, elected Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Asaju as Ilesa Diocese Bishop.

The National President of IDA, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki in a statement made available to Newsmen in Lokoja described the consecration as a thing of joy to the entire Iyara Community, describing the elevation as well deserved in view of the contributions of the New Bishop to the propagation of the gospel through the Church of Nigeria.

Alhaji Badaki described Right Reverend Asaju as a sound preacher, a rare gem, bridge builder, pace setter and an astute Administrator, who has dedicated his lifetime to the service of God and humanity.

According to the National President, the Community share in the joy of the Erudite Preacher and Scholar a expressed optimism that the Bishop will live above board in the confidence reposed in him in view of his track record of integrity, honesty and selfless service to God and humanity.

In his words: Prof. Asaju has served as the Bishop Theologian of the Church of Nigeria, former Rector of the Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary, Abeokuta and ex Vice- Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo. I believe that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment, due to the passion he has always demonstrated in the work of God.”

Alhaji Aliyu also felicitated with the Asaju family and enjoined the people of the Community to support the Bishop particularly in their prayers to enable him succeed in his new assignment.

He also prayed God to grant Right Reverend Asaju more anoiting, good health, wisdom and wellwithal as he pilot the affairs of the Diocese.
