Kogi state House committee on Health has charged the state ministry of health and parastatals under it to ensure proper management of the ultra- modern facilities provided by Governor Yahaya Bello in the sector.
Chairman of the committee Ochidi Usman Shehu stated this when the ministry of health and it’s parastatals appeared before his committee to defend their twenty twenty four budget estimate at the assembly complex.
He said the governor had invested hugely in the sector by constructing the reference hospital in okene, and other modern health facilities in Ajaokuta and Gegu as well as the remodeling of the specialist hospital Lokoja.
The Lawmaker said the sector was crucial to the people of Kogi state as the development in the sector must be sustained.
The commissioner for health, Doctor Zakari Usman said there have been a lot of infrastructural development in the health sector especially with the construction of new hospitals.
He explained that the ministry in the incoming year would look at other areas affecting the sector as well as upgrade other hospitals that require government attention.
Doctor Zakari said the recruitment of medical and health workers was an ongoing process in the ministry in other to fill the shortage of workers who have either left for greener pastures, retired or died.
The Commissioner maintained that the ministry would consolidate on the achievements in the sector.
