Kogi Speaker Mourns ATTA AMEH OBONI II, describes his demise as a colossal loss
Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole has received with grief and sadness, the news of the transition unto glory of a great Monarch with deep sense of humor, His Royal Majesty, Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II, Agabaidu, Atta of Igala Kingdom and President, Kogi State Traditional Council who joined his ancestors after a brief illness.
Oh death, oh death, where is your sting, why now, why now, Agabaidu
The Speaker described the demise of the late Monarch as a colossal loss not only to Igala Kingdom, Kogi State, Nigeria but to the entire humanity whom he served diligently while alive.
He said just about forty two days ago precisely on the 17th of July, 2020, His Royal Majesty, Atta Ameh Oboni II was in high spirit to receive the entire members of the Kogi State House of Assembly in his palace in Idah on their way to Ejule Ojebe in Ibaji Local Government Area to bid farewell to one of their colleagues who died in June, Hon, Monday John Abbah.
In his words, he charged the members of the 7th Assembly to use the institution of the State Legislative Arm to unite all segments of the state, recounting his experience with nostalgia while in St Augustine’s College, Kabba between 1961 and 67 for his post primary school education.
The Speaker noted that he never knew that encounter would be the last time he will have the opportunity of meeting with him again in life, stressing that the Royal Father will be greatly missed as the vacuum created by his sudden exits will be hard to fill.
He condoled His Excellency, Aihaji Yahaya Bello, the Government of Kogi State, the immediate family and the entire people of Igala Kingdom over the sudden demise of a humane and etiquette Monarch who reigned to promote the peace and development of not only his people but the entire state.
He said it is disheartening and painful to lose one of the finest father figure in the traditional institution of the state, noting that he only took solace in the words of God which says, under the sun there is time for everything, a time to be born and time to die, urging his family to uphold his legacy of boldness, tolerance, accommodation, hark work and truthfulness.
It is on this note, Rt. Hon. Prince Mathew Kolawole on behalf of his family, Kabba/Bunu State Constituency, entire member of the 7th Assembly, management and staff of the Kogi State House of Assembly wish to commiserate with the immediate family of ATTA AMEH OBONI II, Kogi State Government, people of Igala Kingdom over the demise of our father, grandfather, His Royal Majesty, Late Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II, praying that God will grant us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Adieu!
May his soul rest in peace
