KWARA FARMERS CALL FOR MORE INCENTIVES TO CUSHION EFFECT OF COVID-19

Kwara State government has been urged to urgently release palliatives such as good seeds, chemicals and fertilizers to cushion effect of COVID-19 on farmers.

Kwara State Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Comrade Olawale Ajibola made the call at swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Sixteen local govorment executives in Ilorin.

Comrade Ajibola said the Palliatives would enable farmers in Kwara State to meet the food need of the State and the country.

The Kwara State AFAN Chairman commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on timely allocation of tractors to all the Sixteen Local Government of the State and advised the newly sworn-in executive members to be good ambassador as well as desist from extortion of members.

In a response, Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would do everything possible to make agriculture one of the mainstay of the state’s economy.

Mrs Afolabi-Oshatimehin advised farmers in the state to work together peacefully to attain success, assured them of government’s timely intervention.

Correspondent Lanre Omotoso reports that the newly sworn-in executive members across the Sixteen Local government of Kwara State received their certificates with oath office, promised their unalloyed support to AFAN State executive and Kwara Government to become food basket of the nation.
