The City of Ilai is a home of hospitality seated on a vast land of Ward 05 in Mopamuro LGA rich in culture and agriculture which makes her one of the largest producers of agricultural products in Yagba Federal Constituency. The community is in the mood of euphoria as they celebrate the new Yam festival, today being 13th July, 2024.
Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny, while addressing the good people of Ilai- Ward 05, appreciated Oba of Ilai, His Royal Higness Oba Samuel Ibilaiye for his relentless efforts and proactivness in the area of security, noting that he is a trusted and reliable King worthy of emulation.
The New Yam celebration is a channel to foster peace and unity in our respective communities and also enhance cultural sustainability, the Chairman added.
Furthermore, Hon. Destiny appreciated Yagba Federal Constituency representative Elder Leke Abebjide for his progressive mindset, noting that such personality is a blessing for the good people of Kogi State at large and not just Yagba Federal Constituency alone.
In a related development, Hon. Olawumi Jacob KGHA member representing Mopamuro State Constituency expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the love the community has been showering on him. He felicitate them while describing Ilai town as his native home, where he feels relaxed and trust them even with his eyes closed.
The lawmaker described the festival as symbolic, liking it to a cultural rebirth and reunion in the spirit of oness.
“It is worthwhile to note that the people of Ilai nation and by extension, ward 05 at large are peace loving and hospitable, who are consistent in sustaining the longstanding tradition of their fore-fathers through yearly celebrations of King of all crops- Yam”.
I also used this occasion to commend our amiable and polished member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Elder Leke Abebjide for his magnanimity towards Kogi West, assuring him that someday, he shall be adressed as the “Executive Governor of Kogi State”. Continue your good work, sir, even in your absence, it continues to speak goodness for you.
In addition, Hon. Olawumi assures reasurred them of Government intervention of Mopa-Ilai Road being already captured in 2024 Appropriation Bill. Appreciating Elder Leke for his promise to palliate the road and also discuss the immediate construction with His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, he informed Elder Leke and the general public that being the Chairman of the committee on Appropriation and Budget and Planning, he has been privileged to involve the Mopa-Ilai Road in 2024 Budget. “Lending your voice to this important project will hasten the practical manifestation of the age long dream,” Hon. Olawumi sincerely appreciated.
