The ancient town of Iffe ( locally pronounced as Uffe) is situated in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, will be hosting hundreds of guests and well- wishers across the country on the 5th of October, 2024 during its 2024 Iffe Day Celebration and the launch of her 250 million Naira Appeal Fund to complete and to commence various community development projects.
Iffe is one of the bustling towns in Okun land, it is a home to over ten thousand people who have very rich history, many people call the community home of peace and I can authoritatively say too that it is the cradle of western education in sub- Ijumu level having the first standard six ( primary school) second to Kabba in the Kabba-Bunu-Ijumu Federal Constituency as far back as in the early 1940s.
The people from Iffe are honest, hardworking, sociable, kind, hospitable, dependable and proud to be identified as farmers and traders, they see education as a window and as a life-wire to self and community development. Virtually, all standing projects within the town were products of communal efforts.
Iffe community is highly endowed with individuals who have contributed immensely to the national growth of Nigeria and they are still ever ready to lay down their wealth of experiences, knowledge and time to rework and reconstruct the community and the country. Iffe community is truly fired up by the possibility as well as the enterprise nature of the people and there is always the urge to develop the community beyond human imagination. The people relate with strangers as if they had known them all their lives. The community always engages in building bridges of understanding across Ijumu Local Government Area and even beyond.
With this short brief about this town called Iffe-Ijumu, I write to inform the general public that in the spirit of community development, the Iffe Welfare Association (IWA) is using this auspicious occasion to announce its activities to mark this year’s programme of events coming up at the community’s ultra-modern town hall by 10.00 am on the 5th of October, 2024.
The event is expected to attract dignitaries such as the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo who is the Special Guest of Honour, while Chief Bayo Ojo, SAN will serve as the chairman of the occasion. Other dignitaries include the deputy governor of Kogi State, H.E. Salifu Joel Oyibo, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Hon. Salman Idris, Hon. Joseph Leke Abejide, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Mr. Thabo Mabe, Mr. Murtala Zubair, Dr. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, and Hon. Omotayo Ishaya Adeleye.
According to the national president of Iffe Welfare Association, Air Commodore (Rtd) Adekunle Obayemi, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar will be the Chief Launcher of the 250 million Naira Appeal Fund. Meanwhile, the paramount ruler of Ijumu Kingdom HRM Oba William Olusegun Ayeni (JP) and HRM Oba Moses Olawole Jemilo, the Obajemu of Iffe will serve as the royal fathers of the day.
