Kwara South launches Community Security Initiative
* As Sir Fakayode Urges Massive Turnout of Igbomina People

The National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Sir Bisi Fakayode, has called on all sons and daughters of the Kwara South Senatorial District to participate actively in the official launch of the Kwara South Community Security Force, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening community-based security and complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies in addressing security challenges across the district.
According to Sir Fakayode, the event will take place at the Igbomina House, Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State on Wednesday, 15th July, 2026.
The initiative is a collaborative effort of the Ibolo, Ekiti, and Igbomina blocs comprising the Kwara South Senatorial District, underscoring a shared commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting property, and fostering peaceful coexistence through lawful community engagement.
The event will feature the special presence of Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho), Convener of Iru Ekun, whose advocacy for grassroots security has gained widespread recognition across the South-West.
Speaking ahead of the event, Sir Bisi Fakayode described security as the bedrock of sustainable development, emphasizing that no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
He added: “No society can thrive in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. The launch of the Kwara South Community Security Force reflects the collective resolve of the people of Ibolo, Ekiti, and Igbomina to take proactive and lawful steps towards safeguarding our communities. We are pleased to welcome Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in his capacity as the Convener of Iru Ekun, as we collectively chart a new course for enhanced community security.”
Sir Fakayode stressed that the Community Security Force is designed to complement and not replace the constitutional responsibilities of the nation’s security agencies by promoting community vigilance, intelligence sharing, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders.
He further appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, political office holders, religious leaders, youth and women groups, professionals, market associations, artisans, students, and all well-meaning residents and indigenes of the Ibolo, Ekiti, and Igbomina blocs to attend the historic event in large numbers.
”The security of our communities is a collective responsibility. I therefore urge every indigene and resident of Kwara South to be part of this historic occasion. Through unity, cooperation, and lawful community participation, we can build a safer, more secure, and prosperous Kwara South for both present and future generations,” the President stated.
Omo Ibile Igbomina, he added, remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting peace, unity, security, and sustainable development across Igbomina Land and the entire Kwara South Senatorial District.
