Senator Yakubu Oseni has described as patriotic zeal, the support of his colleagues for his bill seeking the establishment of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta.
The bill for establishment of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta has scaled second reading at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, the Senate.
The proposed Steel University which is projected to be specifically geared towards emancipation of Nigeria steel sector was considered expedient and sponsored by the Senator who has vowed to present unprecedented legislative achievement in the history of representative governance of Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Senator Yakubu Oseni who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime opined that with the establishment of the specialized university, the seeming dearth of human resources in iron and steel sector would be permanently solved, just as he disclosed that the Ajaokuta Steel complex would receive the necessary technical boost when eventually resuscitated.
The lawmaker while reassuring his constituents of credible and beneficial legislative engagements, reiterated that he would do everything humanly possible to ensure the establishment of the institution and other laudable projects across the five local government areas of his constituency.
Senator Oseni’s counterpart from Kogi West, Senator Smart Adeyemi who had earlier lauded the initiative of establishing Steel University in Kogi State, noted that the country’s steel industry requires broad spectrum of knowledge and valuable skills to function optimally.
He further stressed that Iron and Steel Company is very crucial and important for infrastructural and socio-economic development of the nation.
